Therapist bios.

ben knudson

I am a Consultant Psychologist and work full-time in the NHS as Clinical Lead for Community Mental Health Psychology Services in East Kent. In my work for Creators House, I offer a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT - where the focus is on the here and now, developing practical coping strategies that focus on thinking styles and behaviour that impact on mood) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (that has more of a focus on core relationships and past history that impact on current psychological functioning). I have a special interest in working with trauma and I am also very interested in mindfulness approaches and meditation as a practice for emotional and spiritual wellbeing. In our work together, I aim to create a safe space in which we can explore the issues that you wish to address in therapy. We will work collaboratively to develop a greater understanding of the issues, space for emotional processing and work towards possible solutions. Therapy has the potential to bring profound change and healing in a person’s life and it is a great privilege to accompany my clients on this journey of personal growth and healing.

I am a passionate and dedicated trainee counsellor, offering a safe, non-judgemental space to build a genuine therapeutic relationship. I work collaboratively to bring positive solutions, and endeavour to understand your needs to make a difference. It is my role to help you bring about positive changes to improve health and wellbeing, and I will be present to support you on your journey.

I work in an integrative approach which includes Person Centred, a type of non directive talk therapy, but also utilising Psychodynamic Therapy reflecting on your past history and relationships and how this may impact the present, and CBT to look at patterns and potential coping strategies. I have an interest in holistic approaches as part of my integrative practice.

I am a final year trainee Integrative Counsellor. At the core of my training is the Person Centred model. In essence, this is underpinned by the belief that we have the answers and wisdom we are looking for within ourselves.

I am a trainee integrative counsellor who has a passion for supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds and understands how challenging navigating life can be. I aim to create safe spaces where individuals can show up authentically and unashamedly knowing that they will feel seen, heard and empowered. With a BSc in Psychology and currently embarking on a BA in Theology and Counselling, at the heart of my counselling is the understanding that an individual’s well-being encompasses the inherent connection between the spiritual, emotional, psychological and physical aspects of the human experience. Therefore, my counselling approach draws from various therapeutic modalities, incorporating elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy, psychodynamic counselling, and person-centred therapy.

I see therapy as a collaborative, supportive working relationship. My aim is to provide a distinctive space to make sense of what is going on in the life of my clients and the way they are feeling, enabling them to confront their anxieties and negative thoughts. Working in partnership with my clients and building a trustworthy relationship allows the opportunity to really shed light on the difficulties my clients face and explore the possibilities and choices available to them.

My clinical approach is integrative which means I draw upon different types of therapies, I take the view that there is no single approach that can treat you in all situations, there are many ways in which the human mind can be explored and understood and no one theory alone holds the answer.
